Samford takes advantage of Auburn errors in 8-1 win

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn got out to an early lead, but Samford took advantage of four Tiger errors on their to a 8-1 win at Plainsman Park on Tuesday night.

Blake Austin singled in Ryan Tella in the bottom of the first to give Auburn a 1-0 lead.

Samford then touched Trey Wingenter for three runs in the top of the third thanks to a throwing error and a passed ball. Wingenter (1-1) took the loss.

Cole Limbaugh (1-0) got the win.

Samford (17-11) added three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to build an 8-1 lead.

Jordan Ebert led Auburn with two hits.

Auburn (19-11, 5-4 SEC) travels to Oxford, Miss., this weekend for a three-game SEC matchup with Ole Miss. The series begins Friday at 7:30 p.m.
