Parr leads Georgia Tech to 7-3 win over Georgia State

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Tech baseball team topped Georgia State 7-3 on Wednesday at home behind a strong starting effort from pitcher Ben Parr.

Parr went 5 2-3 innings, allowing five hits and no runs before giving way to the bullpen. Matt Phillips allowed two runs in the eighth and Dusty Isaacs one in the ninth, but the Yellow Jackets (16-13) had provided more than enough insurance over its first five innings of work.

Designated hitter A.J. Murray led the way with a grand slam in the first inning, helping the team to five in the opening frame.

Parr earned the win, his second of the season, while Georgia State's (14-16) Tyler McClure was handed the loss, his fourth of the year.

The Yellow Jackets host Duke for a three-game series beginning on Friday in Atlanta.
