Columbus State defeats Georgia College 8-7


MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Dustin Averett and Mike McClellan each homered and drove in two runs Friday to lead Columbus State to a 8-7 win over Georgia College.

Carson Bowers went 2-for-4 and also drove in two runs for the Cougars.

Sean Muller (3-1) picked up the win in relief. Trey Watson faced three batters in the ninth and picked up his sixth save.

Georgia College's Micah Thompson (2-2) gave up three runs on two hits without retiring a batter in the eight inning. He took the loss.

CSU (27-10, 15-4 Peach Belt) has a doubleheader with Georgia College today beginning at 1 p.m.
