Edwards, McClellan pace Cougar attack in 11-9 win to split doubleheader with Georgia College


MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Blake Edwards and Mike McClellan each drove in three runs Saturday to lead Columbus State to a 11-9 win over Georgia College and a split in their doubleheader.

McClellan hit a 3-run homer in the Cougars' 6-run fourth inning.

Bryan Headley (7-1) gave up five runs on seven hits over six innings and picked up the win. Headley struck out six.

Josh Taylor (5-2) gave nine runs on 11 hits in 3 1-3 innings and took the loss.

In Game 1, Georgia College (26-7, 13-5, PBC) exploded for six runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh inning on their way to a 12-5 win over the Cougars.

Columbus State (28-11, 16-5 PBC) opens a three-game conference series with Georgia Southwestern University on Friday at 6 p.m.
