A man was arrested Sunday for the 2004 killing of his own father, according to Maj. Gene Hillhouse.

John B. Roberson Jr. has been charged with murder and theft by deception. He's accused of shooting his father, John B. Roberson, on Nov. 9, 2004. His initial court hearing has been rescheduled for March 15 at 8 a.m.

Hillhouse said Monday Roberson was transported from the Philippines, where he was jailed.

The death was first ruled a possible suicide, but the official autopsy report indicated it was a homicide.

Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said Monday that he pronounced the elder Roberson dead. The initial confusion over the death was the possibility of entry wounds and exit wounds.

John B. Roberson Jr. was listed as the next of kin on the death report, Worley said.

Roberson, who was born in 1946, was 21 years younger than his father, who was 79 when he was found dead in his home on 3748 Caspian Drive.

According to an earlier report, a gun was found at the house and the man was found dead in his living room. The gun was found by his side.
