Cougars come in 2nd at Grub Mart Intercollegiate


JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- The No. 13 Columbus State men's golf team came in second out of a field of eight teams, mostly from Division I schools, at the Grub Mart Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Jacksonville State.

The Cougars shot a combined 594, 14 strokes back from winner Jacksonville State.

Bryan Lichimo led the Cougars with a two-over 146 (75, 71), putting him tied for 11th.

Jack Stumpfig ended in a tie for 15th with a 149 (74, 75), James Clayton finished tied for 27th with a 152 (77, 75), Cates Culpepper ended in a tie for 37th with a 156 (73, 83) and Robert Mize tied for 40th with a 157 (83, 74).

Columbus State will play in the Peach Belt Conference championship April 18 and 19 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
