No. 2 ranked CVCC sweeps Thomas University JVs 11-0, 13-0


THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- Chattahoochee Valley Community College swept a doubleheader Wednesday from the Thomas University junior varsity team.

In Game 1, the Pirates defeated the Night Hawks 11-0. Jake Maziar went 3-for-4 with a homer and drove in four runs. Cam Sperry and Jared Martin each had two hits and drove in two runs.

Mitch Shelby (2-0) allowed two hits and struck out three over three innings for the win.

In Game 2, CVCC used a committee of pitchers to craft a no-hitter in the 13-0 victory over Thomas.

Cody Sheffield (1-0) picked up the win.

The Pirates were led by Sperry, who had a 3-run homer. Sam Knight went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run.

Trevor Kieboom also drove in two runs.

No. 2 ranked CVCC (31-7, 11-2) plays single games Friday and Saturday at Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City.
