Lady Cougars rally to win Game 2, gain split with Georgia College


MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- The Lady Cougars rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Georgia College 4-3 in the second game of a doubleheader and gain a split.

Lindsey DeFee (6-4) went the distance to get the win. She also homered in the top of the seventh to get the rally going.

The Lady Cougars pushed across two more runs in the inning. After a single by Kaycee Meeks and a walk to Kristin Rawlins, Suzanne Carney doubled in one run. Morgan Knight laid down a sacrifice bunt to drive in the go-ahead run.

In Game 1, Georgia College rallied for four runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to defeat the Lady Cougars 9-4.

CSU had built a 2-0 lead going into the fifth inning before the Lady Bobcats rallied. CSU added two runs in the top of the seventh.

Kristen Carr was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run for CSU. Casey Googe homered for the Lady Cougars.

Taylor Turner (6-4) picked up the loss. Carly Lewis (15-7) got the win.

CSU (26-18, 8-10 PBC) hosts North Georgia for doubleheader Friday beginning at 6 p.m.
