Elbert Mullen

A Columbus Police officer swerved to avoid hitting a 49-year-old Parkchester Drive man later found in possession of a crack pipe, according to a Columbus Police report.

The officer was driving near the 3300 block of Buena Vista Road when Elbert Cornelius Mullen stepped in front of his vehicle, according to the report. The officer said he had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting Mullen.

While checking to make sure Mullen was unharmed, the officer discovered he had a violation of probation charge. He found a glass crack cocaine pipe on Mullen during a search, which Mullen said he found on the ground some time earlier.

Mullen was charged with possession of crack cocaine. He was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
