Samford builds lead, holds off Auburn rally in 7-6 win


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Samford built a 6-0 lead and held off an Auburn rally Tuesday night for a 7-6 victory.

Justin Camp (1-5) gave up six runs on four hits in 2 2-3 innings and took the loss.

Cody Pugh (3-3) gave up two runs on five hits over 4 1-3 innings and got the win.

Andres Gracia picked up a save for Samford (22-15).

Ryan Tella went 4-for-5 to lead the Auburn offense. Jordan Ebert drover in two runs.

Auburn had runners in scoring position in the both the eight and ninth innings but could not get the tying run home.

Auburn (21-17, 6-9 SEC) hosts South Carolina for a three game series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
