Georgia Tech defeats Georgia 4-1 after big inning


ATLANTA -- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets downed in-state rival Georgia 4-1 thanks to a three-run first inning.

Matt Gonzalez hit an RBI double, and Connor Justus and Ryan Peurifoy both walked with the bases loaded to bring in a run apiece.

Mott Hyde hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to put Tech up 4-0, and Georgia scored its lone run of the game when Hunter Cole hit brought in a run on a groundout in the top of the eighth.

Georgia (21-15-1, 7-7-1 SEC) will play at Florida Friday at 7:30 p.m. Georgia Tech (24-14, 10-8 ACC) will play at Maryland Friday at 6:30 p.m.
