Columbus tennis, Brookstone soccer win championships

LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Columbus High girls defeated Carrollton 3-1 Thursday to win the Region 5-AAAA championship.

Singles player Mayu Onoe won in straight sets as did the doubles team of Abby Courville and Elizabeth Steelmon.

Columbus (19-2) will play in the first round of the state tournament next week.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils lost 3-1 to Carrollton in the boys region title match. Columbus will host Heritage-Catoosa in the first round of the state tournament next week.
