Columbus State tennis teams advance to Peach Belt finals


FLORENCE, S.C. -- Both of the Columbus State tennis teams won Peach Belt Conference semifinal matches on Friday and will play for championships on Saturday.

The 14th-ranked men advanced to the finals for the fourth straight season. The top-seeded Cougars beat fifth-seeded Georgia College 5-1.

The Cougars (18-5) will face second-seeded Armstrong Atlantic. The fifth-ranked Pirates have won the PBC nine straight seasons.

The Lady Cougars will also face No. 2-ranked Armstrong Atlantic in the finals. Second-seeded CSU, which is ranked No. 6, beat third-seeded Flagler 5-1.

This is also the Lady Cougars' fourth straight trip to the finals. CSU (19-4) will face a Armstrong team that has won 10 straight PBC tournament titles.

The women's match is at 8 a.m., while the men will play at noon.

The PBC tournament is being held at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center.
