A 59-year-old Auburn, Ala., man is accused of shooting a woman at a home in the 1300 block of Kent Drive, police said Friday.

Johnnie L. Forte is charged with second-degree felony domestic violence and held on $15,000 bond in the Lee County Jail.

Officers were called to the home to check on shots fired when they found a 29-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. A preliminary investigation led police to identify Forte as a suspect in the shooting.

The woman was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury and released.
