Falcons release 2014 schedule; Philip Wheeler, Jarvis Jones to play in Atlanta

The Atlanta Falcons will open the 2014 season at home against the rival New Orleans Saints.

The NFL released its schedule on Wednesday night. In addition to playing each of its NFC South rivals -- New Orleans, Carolina and Tampa Bay twice -- twice, the Falcons play all of the team in the AFC North -- Cincinnati, Baltimore, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

The Falcons also play the Vikings the Giants, the Bears, the Lions, the Cardinals and the Packers. The game against the Lions will be played in London and will start at 9:30 a.m.

A pair of local football standouts will make visits to the Georgia Dome. Philip Wheeler (Shaw, Georgia Tech) and the Dolphins visit for an exhibition game on Aug. 8. Jarvis Jones (Carver, Georgia) will visit on Dec. 14.2014 schedule
