Moore, Hughston lead Alabama past South Carolina 2-1

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Alabama Crimson Tide evened the road series with South Carolina at 1-1 with a 2-1 win over the Gamecocks Saturday.

Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Ben Moore hit a solo home run over the left field wall.

South Carolina tied the game at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly for an RBI in the bottom of the third, but Casey Hughston scored what would prove to be the game-winning run on an RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Justin Kamplain notched the win for the Crimson Tide. He pitched 6 1-3 innings and gave up one run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Alabama (29-14, 13-7 SEC) will close out the three-game series with South Carolina Sunday at 1 p.m.
