Georgia Tech falls to North Carolina State 7-1


RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets could not overcome two early big innings for North Carolina State, and the Wolfpack cruised to a 7-1 win Sunday. The win gave N.C. State a 2-1 win in the three-game series.

N.C. State scored four runs in the bottom of the first and three more runs in the bottom of the second.

The Yellow Jackets' lone run of the game came in the top of the fifth when Connor Justus brought in a run on a groundout.

Matthew Grimes (4-2) absorbed the loss. He pitched 2-3 of one inning gave up four runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout.

Georgia Tech (26-19, 12-12 ACC) will host Virginia Tech for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
