Public hearings on school merger announced

The Muscogee County School District will conduct two public hearings about the merger of Cusseta Road and Muscogee elementary schools into Dorothy Height Elementary School, scheduled to open on Benning Drive when the 2014-15 academic year begins in August.

The hearings will be:

• May 20 at 6 p.m. in the Cusseta Road Elementary School cafeteria, 4150 Cusseta Road.

• May 22 at 6 p.m. in the Muscogee Elementary cafeteria, 3900 Baker Plaza.

The administration will present its transition plan and answer questions about the merger, which the school board already has approved.
