Police say suspected flasher Alsadiq Crews landed a spot in jail when he exposed himself at a Brown Avenue bus stop, failing to first notice the officer standing right behind him.

Crews, 33, faced public indecency charges during a Friday morning Recorder's Court hearing. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's sex offender registry, he was convicted of child molestation in 2001.

Thursday, officers received numerous calls from drivers complaining that Crews was exposing himself at a bus stop located near a 900 block Brown Avenue shopping center. When police arrived, he noticed Crews repeatedly pull his brown sweatpants down, according to court testimony.

Just as Crews began to masturbate, police approached him from behind, an officer told the court. Crews did not become aware of the officer's presence until police announced he was under arrest.

While officers placed Crews in custody, the suspect begged for his freedom, according to court testimony. He told officers he was sorry and that he "wouldn't do it again if he was allowed to go home."

At the Muscogee County Jail, police discovered Crews was a registered sex offender. He is accused of providing several false spellings of his last name, which prolonged the arrest process.

Judge Michael Joyner set a $1,000 bond for Crews' charge.
