Mississippi State sweeps past punchless Auburn


AUBURN, Ala. -- Mississippi State scored eight times in the top of the seventh on its way to a 12-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Plainsman Park.

The victory gave MSU (31-18, 14-10 SEC) a sweep of Auburn (25-23, 9-15).

Auburn, which were shutout the first two games by MSU, saw its scoreless string go to 29 innings before Daniel Robert hit a homer in the bottom of the seventh.

Former Pacelli and CVCC pitcher Michael O'Neal (3-5) suffered the loss for the Tigers. He gave up three runs on five hits in 3 2-3 innings.

Auburn hosts Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
