Officials rushed a 6-year-old boy to Midtown Medical Center Wednesday after the child was hit by an SUV near a Sandfort Road and 16th Avenue bus stop, according to a Phenix City Police Department press release.

The driver of the SUV, a 17-year-old girl, also hit the school bus when the accident occurred around 7:26 a.m. Police are withholding the driver's information.

The boy, who is being treated for head injuries, is listed in satisfactory condition, according to the release. No other injuries were reported.

Police say initial investigations indicate the driver's vision was obscured by the sun. No charges have been filed.
