CSU's Bradford, Lay improve personal bests at Georgia Invitational


ATHENS, Ga. -- Columbus State's Chatil Bradford broke her existing school record in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet 1 1/2 inches Saturday at the Georgia Invitational.

Bradford improved her NCAA provisional mark for qualifying for the NCAA Championship to be held May 21-23. The womens 4 x 400 relay team, consisting of Shanila Chapman, Tiera Roberts, Rachel Dixon and Ju'el Beasley, finished first in a time of 4:04.82.

Ashley Arnold finished second in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:08.82. Bradford finished 10th in the discus with a throw of 130 feet.

Isaiah Lay of the men's team ran a personal best of 48.66 for fifth place in the 400 meter run. Cody Mallchok finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:38.72. The 4 x 400 relay team of Zach Benjamin, Norbert Ferrell, Heath Lamb and Lay finished fourth with a time of 3:19.94. Heath Lamb finished seventh in the 800 meter run with a personal best of 1:55.70.

The CSU women and men will compete next Thursday and Friday at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
