Columbus State to play early game in Southeast Regional


Columbus State received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Sunday night.

The Cougars are the No. 3 seed and will open play against No. 4 seed USC-Aiken at 11 a.m. Thursday

Lander, the Peach Belt Conference champion, is the host team.

The other first-round games include No. 2 Mount Olive vs. No. 5 Georgia College at 3 p.m. and No. 1 Lander vs. No. 6 Catawba at 7 p.m.

The winner of the eight regionals will advance to the Division II World Series in Cary, N.C.

The Cougars are 36-15 after losing in the opener of the PBC tournament late Saturday night.
