AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Columbus State University men's golfer Robert Mize was named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team.
Mize, a sophomore, carries a 3.59 grade point average and is pursuing his degree in general business.
With the selection, he becomes one of just two players this year to receive the academic honor as well as being named to the All-PBC first team. The 10-member academic team was voted on by the PBC sports information directors.
Mize helped CSU to a berth in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional.
Mize won his first two tournaments of the season.
The Columbus native posted a 69-71-67 total on his way to capturing the Aflac/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus. He followed that up with a 72-67-74 performance winning the TVA Credit Union Invitational three weeks later.
After both tournaments, Mize was named the PBC Men's Golfer of the Week.
Mize recorded two other top-10 finishes throughout the season taking eighth at the McDonough Cup and fifth at the Matlock Invitational.
He ended the year with a stroke average of 72.8 , which was inside the top-10 in the conference.
