Moore, White homer as Alabama defeats Mississippi State 2-1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Ben Moore and Mikey White homered and Alabama pitchers limited Mississippi State to just five hits Saturday in a 2-1 win at Sewwll-Thomas Stadium.

Wade Wass and Casey Hughston each had two hits for Alabama (34-21, 15-14 SEC), but it was White's lead off homer in the bottom of the first and Moore's solo shot in the fifth that were the difference.

Mississippi State (35-20, 18-12) scored its lone run on an RBI ground out in the seventh inning.

Justin Kamplain (6-3) gave up no runs and allowed three hits in 5 1-3 innings to pick up the win. Thomas Burrows closed out the game and recorded a save.

Preston Brown (4-2) gave up White's homer and retired just one batter, but he took the loss.

Alabama will play Kentucky Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the SEC tournament in Hoover, Ala.
