Lions fall to Hammers, remain winless on the road

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The road woes continue for the Columbus Lions, who lost to the Alabama Hammers 73-53 on Saturday night at Prospt Arena.

The Lions are now 0-3 on the road.

Alabama quarterback Russell Hill completed 21-of-30 passes for 370 yards and six touchdowns.

Mico McSwain was on the receiving end of four of those scoring tosses. He led the Hammers with nine catches for 162 yards.

Former Lions player Maurice Dupree and Jeremy Grier had the other TD catches.

Lions quarterback Antwon Young completed just 12-of-33 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns.

Jarmon Fortson caught four passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Kendrick Perry had two TD catches as well. He finished with 161 total yards — 93 receiving and 68 rushing.

Lions defensive back Roshawn Marshall forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. He also had an interception.

The Lions remain on the road for a game at Nashville on May 25. They return home for a game against Lehigh Valley on May 31.

The Lions are tied for second in the PIFL's American Conference with Georgia. Both are a game behind Nashville.
