How did you come to be working at Whitewater Express?

After graduating from the University of Alabama I was an account manager at a sponsorship marketing company. After a year in Atlanta, I was on the search for a new job! I graduated college with Dan Gilbert's son Daniel, and also knew his company had been chosen as one of the outfitters in Columbus. I reached out and have now been working with them almost a year.

As an outdoors enthusiast living in Columbus, what do you think is the best road trip for an outdoor excursion?

The Little Grand Canyon (Providence Canyon in Lumpkin, Ga.) is a great choice for a day excursion. Little River Canyon (in Fort Payne, Ala.) is a great getaway for the weekend. Little River Canyon is about three hours from here north of Rome, Ga. It is a longer drive, but the hiking and views are amazing.

What's the story on your dog Bossman?

I rescued Bossman my sophomore year in college. I soon came to know that he was the old pledge dog for an Alabama fraternity! I blame his time at the frat house for his being terrified of loud noises and big crowds. His name had been Otter. He is the best dog on the planet.

As a downtown resident, what do you think of the occasional hype about downtown crime?

I live in the 11th Street lofts. I work downtown and do not leave the area much at all. I have never had any issues or felt threatened.

What is the Columbus area's best-kept secret?

Columbus' best kept secret is sunset on the waveshaper island in Uptown. It is one of the most gorgeous sunsets you will see. The sun sets over our two largest rapids. It is a must-see in the city.
