No. 1 Chattahoochee Valley faces No. 2 Delgado in world series opener

The 10-team field for the JUCO world series has been completed, and the schedule is set.

Top-ranked Chattahoochee Valley Community College will play No. 2-ranked Delgado (Louisiana) in its opener on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The pairings for the opening round are pre-determined.

In other opening-round games scheduled fro Saturday, No. 7 Columbia State (Tennessee) will face No. 3 Iowa Wesleyan at 11 a.m., No. 5 Johnson County (Kansas) will play Midland (Texas) at 2 p.m. and Blinn (Texas) will play Cochise (Arizona) at 5 p.m.

Former Columbus High standout Kyle Carter and Miami Dade will play its first game on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. against No. 6 Spartanburg Methodist (South Carolina). That game follows two losers bracket games on Sunday.

The national champion is set to be determined on May 30 or May 31.

The tournament is being played at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colorado.
