Georgia Underclassmen Top 100 Showcase to be played at CSU on May 28

May 19, 2014

The Georgia Dugout Club will put on the Georgia Underclassmen Top 100 Showcase at Columbus State University from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 28.

The Showcase is meant to help underclassmen gain attention from recruiters and professional baseball scouts, and multiple other events will take place around the state during the month of June.

Notable Top 100 alumni include 2008 No. 1 draft pick Timothy Beckham (Griffin High) and 2012 National League Most Valuable Player Buster Posey (Lee County High).

The Georgia Underclassman Scout Committee, made up of pro scouts and college coaches, will travel to evaluate players at each of the different regional sites. From that pool, 100 upcoming seniors and 60 upcoming juniors and sophomores will be chosen to participate at the final event at Georgia Gwinnett College in late June.

Local players who have participated in the past include Jordan Weems (Columbus), Zach Laughlin (Columbus), Chase Weems (Columbus), Nick Sarianides (Northside) and Cody Sheedy (Harris County).

The Georgia Dugout Club will also be playing the Senior All-State game at Golden Park for the third consecutive season. That will be held on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31.
