NORMAN, Okla. — Kennesaw State golfer Jimmy Beck (Columbus High) was named to the NCAA Division I PING all-region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Thursday.

This was the second straight year Beck has earned the honor. He is the first Kennesaw State player to earn the honor twice.

The junior has posted five top-10 finishes and four more top-20 finishes this season with a stroke average of 72.47 in 36 rounds.

Earlier this season, Beck was named the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was also named to the all-conference first team.

Beck and the Owls teed off Friday in the rain-delayed first round of the NCAA championships. Beck managed to play only three holes before play was suspended for the day. Beck was at 1 over.

The format is stroke play for the first three days, then the top eight teams will advance to match play.
