Jade Sasser (Northside), AUM win NAIA national championship

Jade Sasser is a national champion.

The former Northside High star helped lead Auburn Montgomery to the NAIA softball world series title with a 10-6 win over William Carey on Thursday night at South Commons.

Sasser doubled in two runs as part of AUM's four-run first.

Sasser finished the game 1-for-4.

She went 4-for-16 in the five games AUM played in the tournament.

Auburn Montgomery expanded it lead with five runs in the sixth for a 10-1 lead.

Carey tried to rally and scored two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Carey forced the second game by winning 7-4 earlier Thursday.

That game gave both teams one loss in the tournament.
