Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - FC Dallas saw its poor run of form continue on Saturday as the club suffered a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes at Toyota Stadium.
Dallas, entering the match on a seven-match winless streak, made a bright start in Saturday's affair, taking the lead in the 16th minute when Blas Perez got on the end of Fabian Castillo's cross and slammed the delivery past Jon Busch with an acrobatic volley.
But San Jose answered in slightly controversial fashion 11 minutes later as Steven Lenhart appeared to settle a cross with arm before laying the ball off for Atiba Harris to tuck home from close range.
Things went from bad to worse for Dallas as Adam Moffat was sent off in the 37th minute with a second caution of the match.
The 'Quakes eventually capitalized on the one-man advantage as Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi uncorked a sublime shot from distance that eluded the outstretched arm of Chris Seitz and nestled into the top corner.
Castillo had a tremendous opportunity to level the score for the home side when he drew a penalty in first-half stoppage time, but the Dallas striker was denied by Busch on the ensuing attempt.
A scoreless second period allowed San Jose (4-4-4) to collect its third victory in its last four league outings to climb to 16 points on the season.
Dallas (5-7-3) remains in search of its first league win since April 19.
