Urban League pastors lunch set for Thursday

The Urban League of Greater Columbus Inc. will lead a discussion on “Prison Reentry” at the second annual Pastors and Faith-based Community Lunch on Thursday.

The event will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center. Guest speakers will include Sandra Anderson, Senior Pastor of Community Outreach Church of Columbus,and Robert Keller, a member of the State Board of Pardons and Parole.

During the luncheon, Urban League President and CEO Brook Burgess will also update the audience on the organization’s current work, according to a news release issued by the non-profit agency.

“The Urban League of Greater Columbus has an incredible foundation in the faith community,” Burgess said in the release. “Our Pastors and Faith-based Community Lunch is a way for us to personally share our program updates, ask for continued support, and show our appreciation.”

Anderson is also director of the Apex School of Theology Georgia/Alabama Learning Center, where she is also professor of Old New Testament Studies. She serves as a keynote speaker for HeartBound Prison Ministry in Atlanta and is owner of Integrity Beauty Salon in Columbus.

Keller has served as both Assistant District Attorney and District Attorney of Clay County. He also served as Vice Chair of the Governor’s commission on Certainty in Sentencing.
