Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Impact traded defender Jeb Brovsky to expansion club New York City FC on Thursday in exchange for a 2016 second-round SuperDraft selection,

"We would like to thank Jeb for everything he's done both on and off the field with the Impact," said sporting director Nick De Santis. "This move provides him with an opportunity he was looking for while giving our team roster and budget flexibility moving forward. Jeb's contributions to the club were appreciated and we wish him well."

"It was a mutual decision that the club and I came to regarding my professional career," said Brovsky. "I'm very excited to be part of NYCFC and I hope to see my career grow there. I will not forget the time my family and I spent in Montreal. I want to thank the club and the fans for their support."

Brovsky had been a mainstay along Montreal's back line since arriving from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2012, but the Colorado native has seen his playing time significantly diminish this season as he has played just 596 minutes.

The Impact are currently in last place in the Eastern Conference with 10 points, and will hope to begin turning their season around following the World Cup break on June 25 against Vancouver.
