An Alabama man was killed Friday after the pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with another truck on Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn.

The name of the 55-year-old man was not available late Friday because relatives had not been notified. He was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The second driver, 57, was transported by Life Saver helicopter to University Alabama Birmingham Medical Center in Birmingham for non-life threatening injuries.

In a preliminary investigation, Auburn police said the driver of a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup was northbound on the parkway when the vehicle crossed into the southbound land near Wire Road and collided head-on with a 1995 Ford pickup driven by a Sylacauga man.

Traffic was temporarily rerouted in the area while the accident was cleared.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.
