Three suspects were taken into custody Thursday afternoon, a day after a Cusseta, Ala., man was beaten during a home invasion early Wednesday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office said today.

Capt. Van Jackson identified the suspects as Kayla Anne Danford, 25, of Valley; Brandon Thompson, 18, of Cusseta and Justin Shane Hoyle, 19, of Lanett. Each faces one count of robbery first degree and assault second degree in the Wednesday home invasion robbery.

They were arrested by sheriff's investigators and Valley Police officers at the Rica Motel, 4602 20th Ave. in Valley, Ala. The suspects are being held on $125,000 bond each in the Lee County Detention Facility.

All are accused in the 2:27 a.m. CDT robbery in the 100 block of Lee Road 955 in Cusseta. At the home, a deputy found a man suffering from a head wound that was inflicted during the robbery. The man was treated for a cut to his head at East Alabama Medical Center and later released.

In statement to deputies, the wounded man said four robbers with bandannas or black masks covering their faces forced open the door and entered the home. With two of the robbers armed with long guns, the man said he was struck on the left side of his head with an unknown object, knocking him to the floor.

One of the robbers entered the bedroom of a female at the home, took her cell phone and purse before leaving the room. The four robbers then fled from the scene.

A fourth suspect is still being sought in connection with the robbery, officials said.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call the sheriff’s office at 334-749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at 888-522-7847
