Crash Kills Benning GIs

Seven soldiers were killed and 24 others injured about midnight Wednesday when a troop carrier plane of the 11th Air Assault Division from Fort Benning crashed while engaging in night maneuvers near Fort Jackson, S.C., according to Army officials.

Marines Aid Hunt

President Johnson ordered 200 Marines to join the search today for three civil rights workers missing in Mississippi.

Their fire-gutted station wagon was found Tuesday on the edge of a swamp near Philadelphia.

Revamp Plan

The House in a thunderous voice vote defeated today a proposal that congressional and senatorial districts be revamped when the House takes up the job of reapportioning itself next January.
