Editor's note: Auburn has a rich history of sending players to the NFL. With that in mind, beat writer Ryan Black takes a look at each former Tiger that finds himself on an NFL roster (or should be once free agency and training camps shake out). The series will begin with those who have already been in the league for more than one season and conclude with the latest crop of players to land in the NFL, either through the draft or as an undrafted free agent.

Carlos Rogers, Oakland Raiders

Position: Cornerback

Drafted: Taken with the No. 9 overall pick by the Washington Redskins in 2005

Career stats (through nine seasons): Appeared in 126 regular season games (116 starts); 446 tackles, 1.0 sacks; 17 interceptions, 109 passes defensed; four forced fumbles; five fumble recoveries; Pro Bowler in 2011

2014 outlook: Rogers joined a new team this offseason, but at least he didn't have to go far. All he had to do was cross the San Francisco Bay, leaving the 49ers for the Raiders. It was purely a financial move; San Francisco wanted the veteran corner to take a pay, as he was set to make $8 million this year. Rogers balked, so the Niners let him walk. And he's moved right into a situation that should find him in a familiar place: the startind g lineup. He started every game during his three years with San Francisco. With the Raiders, he'll be on the opposite side of the field from fellow free agent signee (and another ex-49er) Tarell Brown. When Oakland brings out its nickel package, D.J. Hayden will come in for Rogers, moving the Auburn alum inside.
