Columbus police sergeant, wife charged with simple battery

A Columbus police officer and his wife were arrested Friday after they turned themselves in for family violence simple battery charges, according to a report.

Sgt. Craig Haggas and Whitney Compton Haggas were booked into the Muscogee County Jail Friday after warrants were released for their arrests Thursday. They were released the same day.

No details about the events leading to their arrests were disclosed. No further information was available.
