A Phenix City man accused of firing multiple shots into a vehicle with his girlfriend and 12-month-old child Thursday faces two counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident, police said.

Marshall Dillard Sims Jr., 26, also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and resisting arrest. He is held at the Russell County Jail.

After shots were fired into the vehicle, police said Sims fled from the area on foot. Members of the department’s Special Response Team along with members of the Criminal Investigation Division located Sims at a Phenix City home where he was taken into custody.
