Blue Jackets sign former 2nd-rounder Will Weber

— The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Will Weber to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.

The 25-year-old Weber was selected by Columbus in the second round, 53rd overall, in the 2007 draft. He has three goals, seven assists, 182 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 123 American Hockey League games, all with the Springfield (Mass.) Falcons.

The 6-foot-4, 231-pounder is a native of Gaylord, Michigan, and spent four seasons at Miami University (2008-12), where he was named the best defenseman in the CCHA in 2010.
