Little League Roundup: West Georgia Purple wins to advance to title game

The West Georgia Purple team beat Baldwin 8-6 on Sunday afternoon at Britt David Park to advance to the Dixie Junior Boys state championship game.

In Sunday's other game, West Georgia Host eliminated Newton County 18-11.

West Georgia Host and Baldwin will meet in an elimination game on Monday. The winner will advance to play West Georgia Purple on Tuesday.

In the Dixie Boys state tournament at Britt David on Sunday, Mill Creek beat Buford 17-2 and Newton beat Warner Robins 11-10.

Troup and Brookwood play in a late game.

Little League Action

The Northern Little League 10-11 All-Stars beat host Cartersville 11-1 in five innings on Sunday.

Conner O'Neal, Frank Davis and Conner King held Cartersville to only 4 hits.

Northern, which is 2-0 in pool play, plays Toccoa at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

In the 9-10 baseball tournament at Double Churches, American, the host team, had an off day on Sunday. American will play Cartersville at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

In games played Sunday, Cartersville beat Midway 22-6, Vine Ingle beat Oconee 4-1, Hart County beat West Point 12-2 and Murphey Candler beat Elbert County 7-1.

In the 9-10 softball tournament at West Point, Northern lost to Franklin County 16-4. Northern will play its second pool game against Bartow County at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

In the 11-12 softball tournament at West Point, Pioneer won its second straight game, 18-0 over West Point. Pioneer plays Elbert County at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

On Saturday in the Senior softball tournament in Danielsville, Northern beat Athens 15-2 and West Point 19-6.
