Goldwater Names Miller For VP

Triumphant Barry Goldwater picked Rep. William Miller as his running mate today and moved to rally Republican forces for the fall battle against President Johnson's Democrats.

Goldwater let it be known that Miller, a New York congressman and retiring GOP national chairman, was his man.


Sixty-two men of the 2nd Infantry Division Wednesday morning flew to St. Louis, Mo., for the battle-famous unit's 43rd annual reunion.

Sgt. Maj. Robert L. Brown, first vice president of the 2nd (Indiandhead) Association, said veterans of World War I and II and the Korean War are expected to attend the reunion.

A three-judge panel has been appointed to hear a suit brought under the Civil Rights Act against an Atlanta restaurant owner who refused to serve Negroes.

The panel was requested by U.S. Atty. Gen. Robert F. Kennedy who was given permission to intervene on behalf of Negro plaintiffs in their suit against the restaurant operator, Lester Maddox.
