Sound Off for Thursday, July 17, 2014

July 16, 2014

Pick of the day

My religion bans the consumption of pork products. It's about time the Supreme Court outlawed barbecue restaurants and bacon.

The Bibi Birthers

The Republican Party needs to nominate Benjamin Netanyahu for President in 2016, and dare mainstream media to challenge his birth certificate.

Or maybe not

If you get a ticket for a traffic violation from a traffic camera and send them a picture of the money you owe, they may send you a picture of a pair of handcuffs.

Fact checkers needed

I sure got a laugh reading the Sound Offer who said Fox news tells the truth. People who watch Steven Colbert and Jon Stewart are better informed.

Gee, go figure

The only people who complain about cameras at intersections would be people who run red lights.

The lesser evil?

Although I agree Hillary would be a poor choice in 2016 as she would further polarize the nation, electing Warren, who has limited governing experience, could be a mistake. Didn't we try that in 2008/12?

Isolated from reality

As to the ruling concerning health clinics, we have five powerful, conservative Catholic men issuing incoherent edicts about women based on religious superstition and lies, assuming that women are imbeciles, requiring crude, aggressive bullying.

Spare no cost for political theater

Speaker Boehner, the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled in favor of Obamacare and it would be asinine, and expensive, for you to sue to overturn it.

Sticking to the agreement

Kudos to Columbus city management for requiring Mr. Coates to pass ICC certification requirements. He was given two years but found certification to be unimportant. Seemed a lot like hiring a lifeguard who couldn't swim.

We're not defenseless

How can huge buses and trains be sneaking over our border? Surely planes can see them coming and rush National Guard teams to the highway to block them with concrete barriers and tanks. Do it!

Cheney's got a gun

That draft-dodging chicken hawk Dick Cheney is just itching to send other people's children to be blown up in Iraq. We should drop him over Baghdad with his trusty pea-shooter.

Hardly an authority on the subject

An atheist talking about the wrongs done in the name of religion is like an alcoholic talking about how unhealthy soft drinks are.
