GOP Nominee Blasts Democrats

Sen. Barry Goldwater accepted the Republican presidential nomination Thursday night, vowing to wrest the White House from Democrats who he said "have distorted and lost" freedom's vision.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice," Goldwater declared. "Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."


Howard (Bo) Callaway of Georgia's 3rd District was selected as the Southeastern representative on the eight-man team which escorted presidential nominee Barry Goldwater into the Cow Palace for his acceptance speech Thursday night.
