SEC to split $127 million among its 12 schools

DESTIN, Fla. — The Southeastern Conference will split $127 million among the 12 member schools in the revenue sharing plan for the current fiscal year.

The figure announced by the league Friday is the highest in SEC history and is $5 million more than last year. The fiscal year ends Aug. 31.

The revenue sharing plans include money generated by television and postseason games for football and basketball.

The league made nearly $51 million from football television and more than $25 million from bowl games. The SEC football championship game brought in almost $14 million.

Basketball generated nearly $38 million, most of that ($21.8 million) from the NCAA tournament.

The average amount distributed to each school was $10.6 million.

The bowl teams also kept $11.6 million.
