The only thing missing from Michael Skipper and Pete Goerissen’s act is a Justin Bieber song.
The musicians -- collectively known as Mike & Pete -- say they’ll likely never succumb to Bieber fever, so they’ll have to find other ways to attract an audience.
Fortunately, that’s not a problem.
The duo boasts a bilingual act, singing songs in both English and German. They perform an all-ages show at Columbus’ Bavarian House restaurant on Saturday.
“We try to make it as entertaining as possible,” said Goerissen, who hails from Germany and moved to the U.S. when he was 25.
Skipper doesn’t have a German background but generally sings harmony on the German tunes they perform.
Skipper is a local musician, while Goerissen is based in Loganville, Ga. They’ve been performing together for about three years.
Their shows span a wide collection of material, from traditional German songs to disco hits.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Skipper said. “There’s all kinds of old German songs that it seems like everyone knows.”
Occasionally, they’ll sing a song’s verses in both English and German. You’ll likely enjoy some of the German tunes even if you’re not bilingual.
“The melody touches the people,” Goerissen said.
The musicians accept requests, many of which they can play -- well, aside from that recent Justin Bieber suggestion.
Then again, a resistance to all things Bieber could enhance the act’s appeal.
