"Pretty Little Liars" Season 1 Episode 18 aired Feb. 21 on ABC Family. Here's a recap of the show.
It’s theater time at the girls’ high school. The girls get involved in the school’s production of “The Bad Seed.” Mona’s in the play, too. Mr. Fitz is the director. Jenna asks to compose the music for the show. “I’m fascinated by the nature of evil,” she says. Creepy.

We learn that Jenna and Ian know each other. Emily and Spencer watch Ian give Jenna a mysterious bag. We see a flashback of when Alison gave the girls IDs to get inside a frat party. Ian flirted with a bunch of girls. One girl fell down some stairs and passed out while Ian stared from the top of the staircase. Alison and Ian exchanged glances after the incident.
What’s up with Spencer? Well, she finds a random baby in her house. Oh wait, that was just a dream. Reality isn’t much better. Spencer finds Ian packing a bunch of stuff. He vows he had nothing to do with Alison’s disappearance.
“Your friend Alison was a psycho stalker who wouldn’t take no for an answer,” he says.
Meanwhile, Hanna’s mom still isn’t thrilled about Hanna’s relationship with Caleb. Hanna hypothetically asks if Caleb can stay in their house. Hanna’s mom says no, without knowing that Caleb’s already living there.
In a cute scene, Hanna has to jump in the shower with Caleb to hide their secret from her mom. She avoids him after the incident, but eventually relents and makes out with him.
Mr. Fitz agrees to have a beer with Aria’s dad. Aria wants to be stage manager of the play. Mr. Fitz agrees. Unfortunately, things get a little tense when they try to work together. Aria calls Mr. Fitz by his first name in front of all the other students.
You know what else is tense? The beer outing, when Aria’s dad tells Mr. Fitz that Aria is looking at colleges in California. Later, Mr. Fitz and Aria have a major fight. Mr. Fitz says their futures might lead them on different paths. Fortunately, Aria resolves everything with an emotional speech.
Emily visits Toby and asks him out – as friends, of course. He agrees to a breakfast date. In other Toby news, Spencer asks Toby to steal Jenna’s phone.
After the Toby/Spencer conversation, Emily shows up for the breakfast date. Jenna tells Emily that Toby is a no-show. He went out with Spencer instead.
On the plus side, Toby steals the phone. In a private conversation with Spencer, Toby says Alison thought she had something on him. “This whole Alison thing has never made any sense to me. It still doesn’t,” Toby tells Spencer.
Too bad Caleb can’t hack into Jenna’s phone. It’s out of his league.
Here’s something more disturbing: The girls find one of Ian’s trophies from Hilton Head. It has blood on it. They take it to the police station. Unfortunately, the police officers say the trophy is fake. There was no Hilton Head golf tournament on that date. Also, the blood on the trophy was from a rat.
A police officer sends the girls to the station for questioning. With that, “A” sends them a message: “Rat me out, your blood’s next.”
While they wait near the police car, Aria has a revelation: Maybe Alison helped push that girl down the stairs at the frat party. Also, maybe she knew Jenna was at Toby’s place when she set off the firecracker.
In the show’s final moments, we see “A” feeding rats in cages. Each cage has one of the girls’ names on it. The cage labeled “Spencer” contains no rat.
