The best things in life are still free -- but they sometimes come with muscle aches, sweat and tears.
So goes Saturday’s Red Nose Half Marathon, which begins in downtown Columbus. The good news? It’s free. The bad news? You’re still running roughly 13 miles.
Then again, that’s likely only bad news for those of us who have been slacking on our mileage since the Soldier Marathon and Half Marathon. Translation: me.
Hundreds of people are expected to show up for this weekend’s race. It starts downtown and then travels on the Riverwalk. The half marathon is a USA Track & Field-certified course and aid stations will be available along the route.
Intrigued? There’s still time to sign up. Big Dog Running Company in downtown Columbus will host packet pickup from noon to 6 p.m. Friday. You can register during that time frame.
Also, the store will open at 6 a.m. Saturday for people who want to sign up.
