Congratulations, you’ve followed through on your New Year’s resolution to commit to a 5K race. There’s just one problem: You’re all dressed up with no place to go.
Need some ideas? We can help.
If you’re ready to run a 5K this weekend, there’s a race Sunday at Callaway Gardens. You’ll travel around Robin Lake.
The 5K is actually part of a series of races at Callaway Gardens on Sunday. A half-marathon and marathon are also offered. If those distances still terrify you, don’t worry.
In fact, don’t even worry if you’re not in 5K shape this weekend.
You can wait another week and run the Super Bowl 1 Mile, 5K & 10K, scheduled for Feb. 4 in front of Country’s in downtown Columbus.
The mile run starts at 9:30 a.m., while the 5K and 10K start at 10 a.m. Registration rates go up after Jan. 29, so sign up now if you want to save money. If you’re not a Columbus Roadrunners member, cost is $10-$20 before Jan. 29.
Another upcoming race to note: The Big Dog Valentine’s Relay 5K is Feb. 11 at Locos Grill & Pub, 1358 13th St. in Columbus. Cost is $75 per couple/team, which includes a $30 Locos gift certificate and T-shirts. Register at Big Dog with cash or check and you’ll get $5 off.
Relay categories include husband/wife, mother/son, father/daughter, male/female open and more.
